What I learned in Good Ol' 2008

1. I learned that opening up too quickly with someone is not a good thing all the time.
2. I learned that the term "hooking up" is purely contextual and has a plethora of meanings.
3. I learned that even a small car accident in which neither party was hurt to any extent is still scary.
4. I learned that being single on Valentine's Day is the way to go.
5. I learned that just because you make big mistakes, it doesn't make you a bad person.
6. I learned that life is short.
7. I learned that alcohol is not something I should consume while smoking. (DUH)
8. I learned that alcohol is not something I should consume again until I'm 21. (DUH)
9. I learned that smoking is bad for me. (DUH)
10. I learned that it is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all, but I'm still trying to figure out why the measure of love is loss?
11. I learned that when my money runs out, some of my friends do too.
12. I learned that Chai is the hardest drink for me to fix right.
13. I learned that I'm a terrible navigator and I can't go anywhere outside of Midland without calling and asking for directions at least once.
14. I learned that it is socially unacceptable to not have texting, but as long as my parents are paying my phone bill, I won't have it.
15. I learned that even though you may go for three years without seeing your best friend, when you do finally get together, it's like y'all were never apart.
16. I learned that it IS a problem when your car looks like a tornado went through the back seat.
17. I learned that the grieving process takes a long time.
18. I learned that no matter how well you know someone, they can still surprise you.
19. I learned that I have some work to do this year.
20. I learned who my real friends are and who I can trust.
21. I learned to be more careful with my heart, body, and mind.
22. I learned that no man is a failure who has friends.
23. I learned that when I get to college, the upperclassmen are going to dig my taste in music.
24. I learned that I definitely want to go to college.

and lastly...

25. I learned that people are placed in your life for a reason. They walk out for reasons, and they walk back in for reasons too. The reasons are never clear, and sometimes it's better that way, but you never know when someone may pop back in or pop out. Appreciate the time you have with them.

[Insert cliche's that make me sound super shallow]

Happy 2009! I can't wait to see what this year brings! :D
